Professor Héctor Calderón is a specialist in Chicana/o, Mexican, and Latin American literature and cultures. He began his career in Latin American literature and early modern Spain and is most widely known for his contributions to Chicana/o literary studies.

Political Science

Tejas Parasher is the author of Radical Democracy in Modern Indian Political Thought (Cambridge 2023), the first study of a neglected tradition of participatory democracy in South Asia. His research interests lie in the relationship between empire, democracy, and constitutionalism within modern political and legal thought.

History

Glenn Penny studies histories of belonging, knowledge, and migration from the middle of the eighteenth century until the present by pursuing German speakers and German communities all over the world. He is also deeply engaged in the workings of ethnological museums.

Political Science

Luwei Ying studies international relations, with a focus on civil conflict and political violence, and quantitative political methodology. Specifically, her research examines how militant organizations propagate ideologies to mobilize, recruit, and exercise control over individual members and how these ideological strategies fit into the groups’ broader military agendas.
