BEC – Center for Behavior, Evolution, and Culture
The UCLA Center for Behavior, Evolution, and Culture (BEC) unites scholars exploring the connections among evolution, culture, the mind, and society. We also provide a framework for research and training on the interaction among natural selection, cultural transmission, social relations, and psychology.
BKI – Bedari Kindness Institute
The mission of the UCLA Bedari Kindness Institute is somewhat unique in that our goal is two-fold – we’re committed not only to engage in best-in-class research on kindness, but to strategically turn that learning into real-world practices through education and dynamic local, national and global partnerships. Said more simply, we don’t just want people to learn about kindness, we want people to DO kindness.
CCPR – California Center for Population Research
The California Center for Population Research (CCPR) was established in 1998 and has since, been a leading research center for research and training in demography. CCPR is comprised of over 140 active faculty researchers from an array of academic disciplines, such as epidemiology, public policy, economics, sociology, and public welfare.
CCRDC – California Census Research Data Center
The California Census Research Data Center (CCRDC) seeks to provide qualified researchers across California with the opportunity to perform statistical analysis on non-public Census microdata. CCRDC is a joint project of the US Census Bureau and UCLA and UC Berkeley, partnering also with Stanford University, the University of Southern California and UC Irvine.
CELF – Center on the Everyday Lives of Families
Directed by Dr. Elinor Ochs, UCLA’s Center on the Everyday Lives of Families (CELF) is one of six Sloan Centers on Working Families, supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s Program on Dual-Career Working Middle Class Families.
CLIC – Center for Language, Interaction, and Culture
The UCLA Center for Language, Interaction, and Culture (CLIC) is dedicated to training students and scholars in interdisciplinary theories and methodologies for understanding the multiple uses of language in everyday life.
Cotsen Institute of Archaeology
The Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA is a premier research organization dedicated to the creation, dissemination, and conservation of archaeological knowledge and heritage.
CPL – California Policy Lab
The California Policy Lab generates research insights for government impact. Through hands-on partnerships with government agencies, CPL performs rigorous research across issue silos and builds the data infrastructure necessary to improve programs and policies that millions of Californians rely on every day.
CSTCH – Center for Social Theory and Comparative History
The UCLA Center for Social Theory and Comparative History was established in 1987. It aims to encourage the development of social theory that is historically rooted and of comparative history that is theoretically informed.

IRLE – Institute for Research on Labor and Employment
The Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE) is a multidisciplinary research center dedicated to advancing labor research and education for workplace justice.
Latino Policy & Politics Initiative
The UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute addresses the most critical domestic policy challenges facing Latinos and other communities of color through research, advocacy, mobilization, and leadership development to propel policy reforms that expand genuine opportunity for all Americans.
Luskin Center for History and Policy
The UCLA Luskin Center for History and Policy was founded in 2017 through a generous gift from Meyer and Renee Luskin. Its mission is to bring vital historical knowledge, perspective, and analysis to bear on key contemporary issues and policy deliberations.
Marcus Garvey and UNIA Papers Project
UCLA’s African Studies Center is one of the US’s oldest and most distinguished research, teaching, and outreach centers. We continue to build on our existing excellence in research by faculty whose focus runs the gamut from North Africa and the Sahara to Senegal, Nigeria, Cameroon, the Congo, Kenya, and the South Western Indian Ocean.
UCLA Voting Rights Project
The UCLA Voting Rights Project is the flagship project of the UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute aimed at creating an accessible and equitable system of voting for all Americans through impact litigation, research, and clinical education to expand access to the ballot box.
